HistoryIn 1971 starts its activities in the privileged area of the Alto Valle in Río Negro, Patagonia Argentina, at that moment a mainly exporter company, with activities of purchase and sale of fresh fruit. In 1981, an alliance with the German group REWE, allows the inclusion of new capitals for the acquisition of packing houses, cold storages, fields thus starting to produce and pack its own fruit, increasing greater volumes of fruit to its main activity; that of exporting. In 1988 Expofrut carried out a strategic alliance with the Italian Group Bocchi, a worldwide leader in trading fruits and vegetables. Expofrut‘s driving profile as an exporter was consolidated in 1993 with the acquisition of the most of the company shares by the Bocchi Group. This ensured for Expofrut a privileged position in the European markets by placing its products directly on the shelves of the most important supermarkets in the European Union. In 2006 the Bocchi Group mergers with the Univeg Group quadrupling its volume and acquiring a strategic presence in 4 continents. On April 1st 2008 Univeg acquires the 100% of the shares from the Bocchi Group companies in the division of “fruits and vegetables”, unifying both groups and stressing the politics of Bocchi & Univeg. At present Univeg is recognized as a greater worldwide player in the fresh products market. Nowadays, Expofrut is leader in sales in the Argentinean market and it is the biggest exporter of fresh fruits in the country.
